I have a VW Polo 6N Benzin - 1997 - Europe. I have successfully connected my interface to K-line with VAG-COM Release 409-1 and it is working OK.

My question is: what is the difference between ISO9141 and ISO9141-2 ?

And is KW1281 data-protocol-layer standard and what is actually a KeyWord Protocol ? My VAG COM reports Protocol KW1281.

I would like to read some information from the ECU such as Speed/Tachometer and fuel intake while I am driving but on a custom made software. So, where do I find this data-procotol specifications because hardware is not a problem at this point.

ISO 9141 is the norm. -2 (or -1, -3 etc.) is the number of the paper which describe a part of the norm.

KW1281 is no ISO/SAE standard
